Mean spherical model for the 6:12 potential
Abstract
The mean spherical model (MSM) has been solved for the 6:12 potential. Comparison of the MSM results with the results of computer simulations and of the Percus-Yevick (PY) theory, shows the MSM thermodynamic properties to be inferior to those of the PY theory. On the other hand, the MSM radial distribution function (RDF) is somewhat better than that of the PY theory. In fact, for r>1.7σ, the MSM results are in excellent agreement with the simulation results.
