Magneto-optic properties of Nd-Fe-Co amorphous alloys
Abstract
The room temperature magneto-optic properties of amorphous alloy films have been studied in the ternary system Ndy(Fe1-xCo x)1-y with y=0.2. In the y=0.2 series the Faraday rotation, Kerr rotation, Hall angle, resistivity, and magnetization all increase with x in the Fe-rich compositions. The increase is mainly caused by an increase in the iron moment. The refractive index of the alloys was determined from the Faraday rotation and Hall angle data. The index increases monotonically with total Co atomic fraction indicating a composition dependent band is present.
