Luminescence in ZnS, Se:Cu, Cl
Abstract
A series of ZnS, Se phosphor alloys activated with 1·5 × 10-3 Cu and 10-3 Cl was investigated for the wavelength dependence of the excitation and quenching of photoluminescence and the photoluminescence emission. Glow curves and the temperature dependence of the photoluminescence were also studied. The objective of this work is simply to show the position of the recombination and trapping levels that exist in these materials as a function of the varying base lattice composition and band edge. A modified Schön-Klasens(1,2) model is shown to accommodate the data with a satisfactory degree of consistency. The chemical nature of the centers that are actually responsible for the levels is not deduced. © 1963.
