Long-term behaviour of the equilibrium sine-Gordon chain
Abstract
The mean square displacement of a particle, in an infinitely long and heavily damped sine-Gordon chain at thermal equilibrium, is shown to grow with time at t12/. Physical arguments suggest that this result is valid also for lower damping as long as the kinks exhibit an essentially diffusive motion during their lifetime.
