Local throughput performance of packet radio networks with transmitting power control
Abstract
The authors have formulated the local throughput of packet radio networks (PRNs) with sparse topologies under these circumstances. Computer simulation has been used to show that (1) the multi-channel operation, together with the use of directional antennas, can increase the throughput of sparse PRNs by more than an order of magnitude, and (2) one can obtain comparable throughput performance with fewer codes by assigning codes to edges instead of nodes in CDMA (code-division multiple access) systems.
