Light scattering from energy fluctuations in magnetic insulators

View publication

Abstract

It is shown that fluctuations in the total magnetic energy of a magnetic insulator will scatter light, leading to a peak in the scattered intensity around zero energy transfer with a width proportional to the spin-lattice relaxation frequency, and an integrated intensity proportional to the specific heat. © 1976 The American Physical Society.
