Invited: Josephson Devices as Potential Circuit Elements in Ultra-Fast Computers
Abstract
Because of high switching speed and very low power dissipation Josephson junction devices are considered potential elements for ultrafast computers. This review of work pertaining to such applications introduces the Josephson effect and concepts which lead to the realization of logic and memory functions. Investigations of structures as complex as a 4 × 4 bit multiplier and a fully decoded 64-bit NDRO random access memory array as well as novel approaches to logic and memory are discussed. © 1977 The Japan Society of Applied Physics.
