Introduction to 2001 special challenging EMC modeling problems
Abstract
The IEEE/EMC Society TC9 subcommittee, in conjunction with the Applied Computational Electromagnetic Society (ACES) has developed a series of special challenging modeling problems focused on real world EMC issues. This problems are specially designed to challenge various modeling techniques and help show which modeling technique works well for which type problem. These problems also show which techniques do not work well for which other problems. This allows potential users to understand what EMC modeling an accomplish, and what is not possible with today's technology. This paper discusses all the various challenging problems, and describes them in detail so that anyone who is interested in working on one of the problems will have sufficient detail to allow them to be successful. This paper also introduces these problems to session attendees, so that they can better understand the contribution of the following papers.
