Improved corrosion resistance of IrMn antiferromagnets for spin valve applications by alloying with Cr and Ru
Abstract
The improved corrosion resistance of IrMn antiferromagnets for spin valve applications by alloying with Cr and Ru is studied. IrMn is an attractive antiferromagnet for spin valve applications due to its low critical thickness. The corrosion properties are measured using an electrochemical cell with a mercurous sulfate reference electrode and Pt counter electrode in a solution of sodium sulfate 0.1N. Results shows a promising path for reducing the corrosion susceptibility of IrMn in spin valves.
