The use of the cobalt ferrite as a pinning layer for spin valves was studied. The cobalt ferrite is a high anisotropy ferrimagnet with a moment of 450 emu/cc. The structure and the magnetic properties of the cobalt ferrite depends on the deposition conditions. A minor R-H loop of a cobalt ferrite pinned spin valve taken in ±2kOe was given.
