High data rate recording at over 60 MBytes per second
Abstract
In this study, parametric and on-track bit-error-rate (BER) performance are investigated as a function of wire data rate. For this purpose, conventional merged MR-read/inductive-write heads with single layer coil are fabricated. BER performance is determined for three different head designs. The achievable data rate varies from 40 MB/s for the slowest head to over 60 MB/s for the fastest.
