From an analysis of the triplet exciton absorption lineshape in 1,4-dibromonaphthalene we have been able to obtain information on the decay of the initially prepared k ≈ 0 state into other exciton quasi-momentum states. Of particular interest is the asymmetric lineshape and corresponding non-exponential decay, resulting from the position of the k ≈ 0 level at one edge of the band. Similar lineshapes are found in the FeS2 Raman spectrum. © 1976.
