CAE system is a major investment and more importantly involves a structural change to an organisation. It is not (should not be) a tool solely for the DO but for the whole company - thus the widest business needs should be considered. Factors such as Database and Data Communication should play a more important role. Systems performance is often forgotten but without it many of the DB/DC advantages will evaporate. This paper concentrates upon some of the factors which influence the productivity of Computer Aided Engineering Systems.
