Dirac optical model analysis of p→-Ca40 elastic scattering at 180 MeV and the wine-bottle-bottom shape

Abstract

A Dirac equation optical model calculation with the real part of the optical potential constrained by relativistic model considerations is used to represent 180 MeV p→-Ca40 elastic scattering data. The Dirac equation optical potential consists of a mixture of Lorentz scalar and Lorentz vector potentials. Features of an effective Schrödinger equation optical potential constructed from these two potentials are deduced and compared with results from the standard optical model.
