Design and analysis of the WLFS multimedia server

Abstract

Recent advances in display and imaging devices have made it possible to display multimedia data cheaply at user workstations. Many applications that can exploit the display of multimedia data require the development of multimedia servers. WLFS/VM is a file server that has been used for service of multimedia data. We carry out a performance analysis of the disk subsystem of WLFS and consider the impact of a number of changes that are useful for multimedia servers.
