Coupling into slow-light in photonic-crystal waveguides

Abstract

Coupling into the slow-light regime of photonic crystal waveguides is investigated for various taper lengths and terminations by utilizing an integrated Mach-Zehnder interferometer. Experimental results for coupling efficiency as a function of group-index are presented. © 2008 Optical Society of America.
