CODE DESIGN FOR OPTICAL STORAGE - A COMPARISON TO MAGNETIC STORAGE.
Abstract
A condensed comparative survey of recording code designs is given for magnetic and optical storage, comprising: definition of run-length-limited (RLL) and spectral null constraints; methods for RLL code selection on the basis of performance evaluation; examples of specific codes; and remarks on progress in code construction and implementation methods.
