Applications and implementation of a mesoscale numerical weather prediction and visualization system
Abstract
The applications of mesoscale numerical weather models are discussed which operate at higher resolution in space and time. A modest mesonet is constructed to provide temporal and spatial sampling of surface observations which aid in forecast verification. The products generated by Deep Thunder provides valuable platform to investigate assistance in operational decision making and weather-sensitive problems in surface transportation and emergency response. The system provides useful and timely forecasts of severe weather including convective events and high winds with greater precision.
