A 2.3GSample/s 10-tap digital FIR filter for magnetic recording read channels
Abstract
A 6b 10-tap distributed arithmetic digital finite impulse response (DFIR) filter, for high speed and low latency was reported. These filters were used for magnetic recording read channels. Filter consisted of six identical bit slices, each receiving two single-bit inputs. Each bit slice contained two four-stage single-bit shift registers and four 16:1 multiplexers. Memory size reduction was achieved by employing the signed-digit off-set-binary numbering system.
