Pnina Vortman
Pnina Vortman holds a degree from the Hebrew University,
Jerusalem, in mathematics and physics. Since 1991 she has
worked at IBM Research – Haifa in several roles. She
pioneered research activities in Voice Over IP, multi-media,
and next generation services platforms for the telecom
industry. She pioneered research focus in healthcare and was
active in initiating information-based medicine in IBM.
Since 2000, her focus has been on information integration in
healthcare and life sciences in fields such as clinical
genomics, medical imaging repositories, and electronic
health records, storage solutions for medical data, and
mobile health solutions converging medical domain
understanding with her knowledge in telecommunication.
Based on her previous work in aerospace and defense, she
initiated activities in real-time and rich media solutions
to create an intelligence cloud. Pnina is responsible for
smarter planet solutions in IBM Research – Haifa, and
initiated and leads research on advanced water management.
She is a main contributor to over 30 patents and has
published over 15 papers. Pnina Vortman has been a member of
the IBM Academy since 1997.
