YES/L1: INTEGRATING RULE-BASED, PROCEDURAL, AND REAL-TIME PROGRAMMING FOR INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS.
Abstract
An experimental language called Yorktown Expert Systems Language One (YES/L1) is described. It aims to utilize the full power of both rule-based programming and traditional programming techniques to provide constructs for real-time programming, to enhance the expressive power of current rule-based systems, and to provide for integration with existing applications in IBM-based environments. YES/L1 extends the capabilities of the production systems architecture while integrating a number of ideas from traditional programming languages and from specialized expert system shells. The language is being tested under IBM's VM and MVS/XA operating systems.
