WisePad services for vision-, hearing-, and speech-impaired users

Abstract

The wisePad systems are new computing platforms developed to provide personalized image, audio, and text transformation services to visually impaired people and people with hearing problems. The wisePad can also help people who want spoken and text-based language services by providing them language translation, text-summarization, and pictographic-illustration services. The wisePad services has a generic head-mounted display content-transformation devices to capture images and receive multimedia signals. The wisePad services are equipped with content-transformer functions to translate the images and content, and display them on the screen of the devices. Some of significant services provide by the wisePad includes artifact selection, page ordering, language, color, magnification, and image-feature transformation. The wisePad are available in ordinary-looking glasses with USB port, miniature transformer, display chips, and eyewear with wireless microphones.
