WHIM, THE WINDOW HANDLER AND INPUT MANAGER.
Abstract
WHIM (the Window Handler and Input Manager), a window system being developed as part of the QuickSilver operating system project at IBM San Jose Research, is described. A version of WHIM also runs under Xenix on the IBM PC/AT. Some approaches to window management and the reasons for the current architecture are compared. The effects of the display interface on the window manager are also described.
