Thermal isomerization of hexafluorobicyclo[2.2.0]hexa-2,5-diene
Abstract
The kinetics of the vapor-phase thermal isomerization of hexafluorobicyclo[2.2.0]hexa-2,5-diene to hexafluorobenzene was studied in the high-pressure region in the temperature range of 35-76°. The reaction is clean and homogeneous and it follows first-order kinetics with a rate constant k = 1013,73±0,11 exp[(-28.45 ± 0.16 kcal)/RT] sec-1. The heat of reaction, measured approximately by differential scanning calorimetry in the liquid state, was found to be 51 ± 3 kcal/mol.
