Theory and application of exchange-driven switching
Abstract
To switch magnetization direction, exchange-driven magnetic switching (EDMS) replaces the Oersted-Maxwell magnetic field induced by electron-charge current with the quantum-mechanical s-d exchange field induced by electron-spin current. This article discusses the theory of this effect and proposes a possible device that takes advantage of its high theoretical current efficiency.
