The field of a switching thin magnetic film in the presence of a finite-permeability keeper and a semi-infinite ground conductor

Abstract

A thin uniformly magnetized disk lies between a semi-infinite conductor and a half-space filled with magnetic material of finite permeability (keeper). Maxwell's equations are solved and an expression given for the magnetic field at the center of the disk when the magnetization is an arbitrary function of time. Numerical results are given for the case of a step rise in magnetization for varying permeability of the keeper and varying distance between the keeper and the disk. © 1967 The American Institute of Physics.
