Tests of Bragg rule for energy loss of 4He ions in solid compounds
Abstract
We have measured energy loss cross sections for 2000-keV 4He ions in a number of elements and in their solid compounds. Observed compound values were compared with those predicted by linear combination of elemental values by using Bragg's rule. Within an experimental uncertainty of ∼2%, we report agreement in each case for RhSi, HfSi2, SiO2, Al2O3, Si3N4, AlN, W 2N3, SiC (3C, 6H, and polycrystalline forms), and for melamine and adenine. © 1974 American Institute of Physics.
