Synthesis of imide-arylene ether phenylquinoxaline random copolymers
Abstract
The authors have successfully synthesized imide-arylene ether phenylquinoxaline statistical copolymers in high molecular weight by reacting bis(amino) monomer with a preformed phenylquinoxaline moiety with PMDA (Pyromellitic Dianhydride) and ODA (Diaminodiphenyl ether) of various phenylquinoxaline compositions were prepared and those containing high phenylquinoxaline compositions displayed Tg's in 320°C range, while retaining the desired thermal stability. The copolymers exhibited tough ductile mechanical properties, as judged by high elongations (60-110%), similar to that of an engineering thermoplastic.
