Stacked optical memories
Abstract
Complete pages can be read at one stroke from a proposed optical memory consisting of a stack of holographic plates, a mode-locked laser, and a fast detector array. Advantage is taken of the finite time of flight in order to discrimate the holographic reflection from different plates. A hundredfold increase of storage capacity over a single-plate holographic memory can be maintained with negligible increase in access time. © 1974 Optical Society of America.
