Selecting small yet effective set of test data

Abstract

We present an approach to select a small yet effective set of test data for testing an operation. The main contributions are (1) a method to derive a small set of test frames, which are constraints on parameters and system state, from the operation's test specification (2) a method to select parameter values which satisfy the test frames (3) an evaluation which indicates that our approach may be better than those based on the Design of Experiments (DOE) techniques and (4) results from two case studies using our approach in an industrial setting.
