On the electron transfer between cytochrome c molecules as observed by nuclear magnetic resonance
Abstract
Pulsed Fourier transform NMR studies on mixed solutions of the two oxidation states of cytochrome c reveal that the rate of exchange of oxidation states by electron transfer is sensitive to the conformation of the protein molecules. The electron transfer process in vitro is found to arise from binary collisions. At low ionic strengths, the rate is affected by the electrostatic charge on the protein molecules. © 1972.
