Offset quality electrophotography
Abstract
Characters produced by electrophotography can be made with edge raggedness (`fuzziness' of the edges) equivalent to that in offset printing. This enhanced quality has been achieved, using normal 12-μm diameter toner, by identifying and correcting the two primary sources of edge raggedness in electrophotography: wrong sign toner in the development system and air breakdown immediately after electrostatic transfer.
