Non-hydraulic processing of cements
Abstract
Portland cement reacts with poly(acrylic acid) using dry acetone as a non-aqueous transport medium, as evidenced by ir spectroscopy. Phenomenologically, the reaction proceeds through the solvation and syneresis of poly(acrylic acid) with aceton. When appropriate mixtures were sheared by similar processes to that of MDF cement, the solidified cements showed flexural strength up to 75 MPa, which is comparable to MDF Portland cement made through hydraulic processes. © 1988.
