Neutron Scattering Studies of Dimensions and of Interactions between Components in Polystyrene/Poly(vinyl methyl ether) and Poly(vinylidene fluoride)/Poly(methyl methacrylate) Amorphous Blends†
Abstract
A theory for analyzing the small-angle neutron scattering data from polymer blends over the entire phase diagram is developed. This type of analysis has been applied to polystyrene/poly(vinyl methyl ether) and poly(vinylidene fluoride)/poly(methyl methacrylate) amorphous blends, leading to the molecular weight, Mw, and radius of gyration, Rg, for the labeled molecules and the ϰ interaction parameter between the components of the polymer blend. The values of Mw and Rg together with the interaction parameter ϰ suggest that the two polymer blend systems studied in this work are miscible. © 1984, American Chemical Society. All rights reserved.
