Multimedia networking: Applications and challenges

Abstract

This paper summarizes a talk given at the Twelfth Annual ACM Symposium on Distributed Computing. It presents a perspective on the evolving National Information Infrastructure, focussing on some of the multimedia applications and associated technical issues and challenges. The talk was illustrated by several video clips which, due to the constraint of the publishing format, could not be included in this paper.
