More Powerful Solid Modeling through Ray Representations
Abstract
Ray-representations simplify geometrical calculations and effectively decouple application design from the particulars of modeling systems. They extend the geometric coverage of solid modelers, while increasing the range of supported applications. The authors list some of the problems with solid modelling and explain how the use of ray representations for solids provides effective solutions to the domain, application support, and some system problems. © 1994 IEEE.
