Metal-Molecule charge-transfer excitations on silver films
Abstract
Electron energy loss spectra of CO, O2, CH2H4, and C5H5N adsorbed on silver films evaporated at 20 K show in addition to the intramolecular transitions new bands between 2 and 4 eV. These are identified as metal-molecule charge-transfer excitations localized at sites of microscopic roughness and occur for molecules that show surface-enchanced Raman scattering under similar conditions. © 1982.
