Magnetic properties of amorphous ferromagnetic Co100-xTix thin films
Abstract
The magnetic properties of amorphous CoTi alloys were studied for a wide range of Ti content by magnetization and FMR measurements. The magnetic moment u per alloy atom, at 4.2°K, decreases linearly with the increase of Ti concentration. The rate of change dμ/dx is in good agreement with theoretical predictions. The stiffness constant D deduced from the temperature dependence of the magnetization is linearly correlated with TC. F.M.R. measurements revealed the existence of an oxygen contaminated surface layer, the thickness of which was determined by ion probe analysis. The S.S.W. spectrum is typical of a soft ferromagnet with highly uniform properties in the bulk of the film. The discrepancies between the value of D deduced from S.S.W. and magnetometer measurements are pointed out. © 1981 IEEE
