Abstract
We report low temperature (1-10 K) thermal conductivity measurements, and room temperature Raman and infrared measurements of the phonons in crystals of LiNbO3+9% Mg (Li0.901Mg0.087Nb0.992O3). The results are compared to the same studies in pure LiNbO3. These Crystals do not show any indication of glass-like excitations. Rather, normal crystal-like behavior is observed. A quasi-localized mode, due to the Mg, is observed in the Raman studies. © 1985 The Japan Society of Applied Physics.
