KNOWLEDGE BASED IMAGE INTERPRETATION SYSTEM.

This paper indicates some of the limitations of the types of tasks that can be undertaken using image processing techniques and describes a design of an image understanding system. The intention is not to produce a general understanding system but one that will operate in a number of restricted domains. Of particular interest is the structuring of the knowledge that is required for such a system to perform satisfactorily.
