JOINT EXERCISE BETWEEN BT AND IBM USING ISDN.

Abstract

Towards the end of 1985 special BT and IBM equipment was linked via BT switched circuits in order to test interworking to the basic access of the CCITT 1984 I-series Recommendations as progressed during 1985 by CEPT. The purpose of the exercise was to assess and improve the accuracy and quality of the recommendations. The paper concludes that the ISDN protocols are in reasonably good shape, and are not overcumbersome: their complexity is containable. Errors found and suggested improvements have been fed back to CCITT, and problem determination is being investigated.
