JDAPI: A PACS archive/viewer inter-operability based on Java and DICOM
Abstract
The flexibility and interoperability between viewers and archives should be optimized for price/performance. An Application Program Interface (API) that gives additional flexibility and more possibilities for interoperability is defined. It is based on accumulative experience in the Java community. This proposal is called JDAPI for Java DICOM API, since the Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) data model is reflected within. The most important advantage of the proposal in defining a set of Java interfaces, is to allow an independent development of the viewer and of the archive.
