HIERARCHICAL CLUSTERING BY DESIGNING A BACKBONE.
Abstract
It is pointed out that when networks are large, the overhead introduced by dynamic routing consumes too large a share of network resources. A new technique for organizing routing information in large networks is introduced. A 'radius database' provides optimal routing between frequent communicators. The combination of a 'cluster database' and a backbone allows reasonable routing to all nodes.
