FIELD-DEPENDENT ION TRAPPING ON REMANENT VORTEX LINES.
Abstract
The ion current trapped by remanent vortex lines in superfluid **4He has been measured as a function of injected current and electric field. The observed ion current initially increases linearly with the injected current and then saturates. The field dependence indicates that the observed signal is determined primarily by the strength of the field pulling the trapped ions along the vortex lines.
