Explicit formula for thin film disk noise based on zig-zag domain transitions
Abstract
Zig-zag transitions have been recognized as an important source of thin film disk noise. However, the relationship between zig-zags and disk noise has never been analytically established. This paper introduces explicit formulas which express the signal and noise in terms of the statistical distribution of saw-teeth. Details of mathematical derivation will not be given. We will present an informal derivation for the averaged signal and some intuitive explanations for the random noise. The equation provides a basis for studying film disk noise and facilitates the evaluation of media noise. © 1988 IEEE
