Enhancing wide-area monitoring and control with intelligent alarm handling
Abstract
With advances in synchrophasor (PMU) technology, we have an opportunity to enhance power system monitoring and control schemes. In this paper, we discuss how this can be achieved in two ways: 1) combining PMU measurements with spatial and temporal knowledge of the grid to classify the severity of an alarm and 2) intelligently ordering alarms with associated recommendations to enable operators to take faster and better control decisions. © 2013 IEEE.
