Effect on soft error rate of kinks and open loops in the read-head transfer curve
Abstract
Kinks and open loops in read-head transfer curves were characterized and a direct calculation of their effects on soft error rate was made. The transfer curves were obtained by applying a low frequency uniform field to giant magnetoresistance sensor. For kinks, jumps smaller than 9% may be tolerated by the channel, but the performance rapidly degrades above that. The channel was found to be more sensitive to open loops.
