Effect of ion-implantation on bubble translation velocity
Abstract
Bubble translation velocity has been measured as a function of gradient field drive in both ion-implanted and as-grown garnet films to study the effect of ion-implantation on velocity. The apparent velocity, defined by the ratio of displacement to pulse width, shows a peak then saturates with increasing drive in the as-grown films. In ion-implanted films, the apparent velocity increases above the peak observed in the as-grown films; and in some implanted films, the saturation is not observed. This difference is probably attributable to the suppression of Bloch loop punch-through by the implanted layer and the resultant bubble overshoot effect.
