DynaMark: Benchmarking dynamic spatial indexing for location-based services
Abstract
The development of DynaMark benchmark to measure spatial-data management systems' performance is described. Several query types relevant for location-based services (LBS) applications including proximity and K-nearest neighbor queries are defined by DynaMark. This benchmark provides data on scalability of system under test along with evaluation of performance metrics as function of number of simulated mobile users. Such evaluation helps to determine capability of system to sustain its update or query performance over extended periods of times.
