DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE OF ROBOTIC SYSTEMS FOR PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD ASSEMBLY.
Abstract
This paper covers the design and performance implications of a Robotic System for Printed Circuit Board (PCB) assembly. In this context a system is defined as one or more robots working together with other sub-systems on the same production process. The effect of several different PCB part numbers, (P/N's) with and without common components are evaluated. Performance is discussed in terms of speed, error recovery, capacity and flexibility. The advantages of monitoring such a process with a computer is covered, in order that the value and content of timely information is understood.
